Shipping Box Fit Checker

Enter your product size and the inside dimensions of your shipping box, and the fit checker tries all six rotations for you — padding included. You get a clear fits-or-not verdict, the friendliest orientation, leftover clearance, and, for multiples, how many units one box can hold.

Compare product and box
Enter the product and the box interior in the same unit. Padding is subtracted from every side before all six rotations are checked.

Protective padding added on every side (e.g. bubble wrap). Usable interior = box dimension − 2 × padding.

Box interior dimensions

Enter product and box dimensions, then check fit.

This is a dimensional check only. It does not guarantee a real-world pack: irregular shapes, fragile items, void fill and carrier packaging rules may require extra space.

How It Works

  1. 1

Choose inches or centimeters, then enter the product length, width and height. Add a quantity of identical items, or leave it at 1 for a single product.

  2. 2

Enter the box interior dimensions — the usable space inside the walls, not the outer size. Padding thickness per side is subtracted twice from every box dimension.

  3. 3

The checker tests all six axis-aligned rotations and picks the orientation with the most even leftover clearance — or, for quantities, the arrangement that holds the most items.

  4. 4

Read the verdict: fit status, best orientation, leftover clearance and grid capacity — or the exact dimension that is blocking the fit.

Example

  1. A product measures 12 × 4 × 3 in and the box interior is 14 × 6 × 4 in, with 0.5 in of bubble wrap per side.
  2. Padding reduces the usable interior to 13 × 5 × 3 in.
  3. The product fits in its natural orientation with 1 × 1 × 0 in of leftover clearance — the height sits exactly flush.
  4. Setting the quantity to 6 shows the aligned grid only holds 1 × 1 × 1, so a larger box is needed for multiples.

Accuracy & Limitations

  • Quantities are estimated as identical items packed in an aligned grid, all with the same orientation. Mixed orientations, interlocking and irregular stacking (full 3D bin packing) are not modeled.
  • This is a dimensional check, not a packing guarantee: irregular shapes, fragile items, void fill and carrier packaging rules may require extra space.
  • The box dimensions must be interior measurements. Verify your box spec for the inside size — outer dimensions include wall thickness and will overstate the usable space.
  • Rotation checking covers the six axis-aligned orientations only; diagonal placement is not considered.
  • Padding is assumed to be uniform on every side, like bubble wrap or foam. Rigid inserts or corner protectors may reduce usable space unevenly.
